I chose gambling as my social issue topic because of how rapidly it's growing in popularity, especially with the rise of sports betting. With betting apps making it incredibly easy to gamble from anywhere, it's becoming a normalized part of everyday life, particularly among young adults. The accessibility and constant promotion of sports betting make it feel harmless and even trendy, but the reality is that it can lead to serious financial and emotional consequences. By focusing on gambling, I want to shed light on its impact and encourage more thoughtful conversations about its risks, especially as it becomes more embedded in our culture.
